Bedrooms and Bathrooms

Our 12 student rooms can be used in single or multiple occupancy. Each bed has 2 pillows, and a duvet. Each room has a washbasin with hot and cold running water, a wardrobe, small table with chair, nightstand and bedside light. The showers and WCs are a few steps along the hall. Shower rooms and bedrooms are single sex. Please ask if you are a married couple wanting a double room.

Food Service

There are 2 dining rooms, and a commercial kitchen. Meals are prepared by the workers and students and are taken together (see Daily Rhythm). Meals are  self-serve and are an important time for gathering around a table for more than just physical food. This is a time for fellowship, and uplifting conversation,  or for listening to a reading.

Because of a limited budget, and an emphasis on avoiding waste, please realize that we are not a restaurant. We cannot provide multiple meals to suit different likes and dislikes. If you have medically diagnosed allergies, please let us know on your application. You may be able to supplement the meals we offer with your own food. There is a microwave, fridge and kettle for the use of our students, but the house kitchen is not available for private meal preparation.

Gardens

We have large ornamental and vegetable gardens. We are developing the walled vegetable gardens with the goal of becoming more and more self-sufficient.

Have you ever thought about how beneficial it is to spend time in a garden? A garden offers both physical and psychological nourishment.

In her book, “The Well-Gardened Mind”, psychiatrist Dr Sue Stuart-Smith says:

A garden gives you a protected physical space which helps increase your sense of mental space, and it gives you quiet, so you can hear your own thoughts. The more you immerse yourself in working with your hands, the more free you are to sort feelings out internally and work them through.
